In Committees

Committees are where the Assembly does much of its detailed, investigative work. By serving on several committees, I’m able to examine legislation closely, scrutinise government activity, and contribute to policy work that directly affects the ACT. These roles give me the opportunity to bring Tuggeranong’s perspective into important decision‑making processes across a wide range of portfolio areas. Each committee will usually meet weekly. Below are the committees that I currently serve on.

More information on each of the Committee’s work is available here.

Current Committees

Standing Committee on Economics, Industry and Recreation

Chair

As Chair of this committee, I lead inquiries into issues that shape Canberra’s economic development, local businesses, arts and creative industries, tourism, sport and recreation, and the night‑time economy. Our work helps strengthen economic diversification and supports a vibrant, active community.

Standing Committee on Legal Affairs

Deputy Chair

In this committee, I help oversee inquiries into emergency management, policing, corrective services, consumer affairs, human rights, and access to justice. We examine legislation and government activity to ensure ACT laws remain fair, effective, and aligned with community expectations.
Standing Committee on Legal Affairs (Legislative Scrutiny Role)
Deputy Chair
In addition to its inquiry work, the Legal Affairs Committee also carries a formal legislative scrutiny responsibility. In this role, I help examine every bill and piece of subordinate legislation presented to the Assembly to ensure it is well‑drafted, respects human rights, and does not unduly limit people’s liberties. This includes assessing whether legislation delegates powers appropriately, relies on clearly defined administrative processes, preserves the right to review decisions, and meets the technical standards expected by the Assembly.
Standing Committee on Administration and Procedure
Member (as the Government Whip)
As a member of the Standing Committee on Administration and Procedure, I help ensure the ACT Legislative Assembly operates effectively and transparently. The committee reviews the Assembly's procedures and standing orders, advises on services and resources for Members, and helps manage the scheduling of Assembly business.
Standing Committee on the Integrity Commission and Statutory Office Holders
Member
Through this committee, I contribute to oversight of the ACT Integrity Commission and other key statutory office holders. The committee’s work supports transparent, accountable and high‑integrity governance across the ACT public sector.

Former Committees

Standing Committee on Transport and City Services
Member from 26 June 2025 until 29 July 2026
This committee examines public transport, roads, footpaths, parks, libraries, waste and recycling, and other city services. My role involves contributing to inquiries and reviews that shape the everyday services Canberra residents rely on.
Select Committee on Caretaker Conventions
Member
As a member of the Select Committee on Caretaker Conventions, I examined the rules governing the conduct of government and the ACT Public Service during election periods to ensure they remained fair, transparent and fit for purpose.
Select Committee on Estimates 2026-2027
Member
As a member of the Select Committee on Estimates 2026-27, I scrutinised the ACT Government’s annual budget and examined proposed government expenditure in detail. The committee conducted public hearings, considered evidence from stakeholders and government agencies, and reported its findings and recommendations to the ACT Legislative Assembly on 28 August 2026.
Select Committee on Financial Management and Government Procurement Legislative Compliance
Member
As a member of this Select Committee, I examined the ACT Government’s compliance with the Financial Management Act 1996 and the Government Procurement Act 2001. Established by the Legislative Assembly in February 2026, the committee conducted an inquiry into government compliance, gathered evidence from relevant stakeholders, and reported its findings and recommendations to the Assembly in June 2026.
Select Committee on the Fiscal Sustainability of the ACT
Member
As a member of the Select Committee on the Fiscal Sustainability of the ACT, I reviewed the Territory’s financial position and explored ways to ensure the ACT’s finances remained sustainable for future generations.
Select Committee on Privileges 2026
Member
As a member of the Select Committee on Privileges 2026, I examined whether conduct during the Standing Committee on Public Accounts and Administration’s inquiry into the CIT CEO recruitment process amounted to a contempt of the Assembly, including allegations of false or misleading evidence, failure to produce documents and related matters.
