Private Members’ Motions let non‑executive Members of the ACT Legislative Assembly push for action and demand answers on the issues that matter.
As your local and vocal Member for Brindabella, I’ve brought forward a wide range of Motions to drive outcomes for our community. You can explore them below.
I moved a motion calling on the ACT Government to expand and improve sharps‑disposal infrastructure across Canberra by increasing the number of bins, reviewing current locations, and delivering a clear plan to close service gaps. It urges Government to work with health and community stakeholders, boost public information on safe disposal and report back by the end of 2026.
The motion passed the Assembly on Wednesday 4 February 2026.
I moved a motion calling on the ACT Government to adopt a Public Notification App (like GoodSAM) to boost survival rates from cardiac arrest. I public notification app would notify nearby responders when an urgent triple zero call is received. The motion also pushes the Government to explore options to mandate AEDs in all ACT Government schools and workplaces, work with St John Ambulance to expand public defibrillator coverage, and report back by the end of 2026.
The motion passed the Assembly on Wednesday 29 October 2025.
I moved a motion urging the ACT Government to create clear, publicly accessible guidance that helps community groups, event organisers and volunteers find suitable event sites, understand available services and navigate approval requirements with less cost and uncertainty. It calls on the Government to work directly with organisers to map event‑ready locations, outline complexities and infrastructure, and report back on progress by the end of 2026.
The motion passed the Assembly on Thursday 18 September 2025.
I moved a motion calling on the ACT Government to continue working with the Commonwealth to invest in a strong, reliable and future‑ready road network that supports Tuggeranong and other growing regions. It urges the Government to prioritise infrastructure planning that enables regional growth, efficient transport and safe, environmentally responsible travel for all Canberrans.
The motion passed the Assembly on Thursday 26 June 2025.
I moved a motion that called on the ACT Government to engage proactively with NBN Co to support the fibre‑to‑the‑premises rollout in Tuggeranong, remove any unnecessary red tape and help ensure the project stayed on track. It also called on NBN Co to honour its 2025 commitments, communicate transparently with residents and deliver high‑quality, reliable FTTP broadband to every suburb.
The motion passed the Assembly on Wednesday 9 April 2025.
I moved a motion that recognised the latest CSIRO GenCost findings showing renewables remain the lowest‑cost new electricity generation technology, while nuclear power is significantly more expensive. Despite the Liberal–National Coalition adopting a pro‑nuclear policy at the 2025 Federal election, the Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to evidence‑based energy policy by supporting continued investment in renewables and keeping the ACT and Australia free of large‑scale nuclear power.
The motion passed the Assembly on Thursday 6 February 2025.
